Today we start our West Coast edition of Travel Channel Academy.
We’ve partnered with the Brooks Photographic Institute in Santa Barbara.
Brooks is one of the pre-eminent Photo training institutes in the world, and so the move from stills to video is a logical partnership.
Our emphasis in the construction of video as a largely visually driven event meshes nicely with the whole Brooks partnership.
And of course, spending the week in Santa Barbara is not so terrible!
We used to run our West Coast courses in LA, but we found that every pizzaria in town wanted $2500 for a ‘location fee’ when the students went to shoot there. Santa Barbara is much friendlier!
Congrats also to TCA alum Scott Gorman who just got a commissioned series of 3 cities for Travel Channel!
Travel Channel has earmarked $250,000 for commissions from TCA grads for this year alone.
