Rosenblum Associates. Welcome.

The VJ Revolution strikes the newsroom:

In 2000, Rosenblum Associates entered into a long-term contract to completely change the nature of television news in the UK.  For four years we trained, equipped and fielded more than 650 VJs across the UK for The BBC’s national news network.  When we came to the BBC, they covered the entire UK on a daily basis with 84 conventional beta crews. Now they cover the entire UK on a daily basis with more than 750 cameras.  A massive, fundamental change.

This is the VJ Revolution in the TV Newsroom.

Reporters carry their own small format DV cameras, shoot and report all their own stories, and edit them on inexpensive laptops in the field or in the newsroom.

  • no cameramen
  • no soundmen
  • no producers
  • no on air ‘talent’.

Just digital reporters equipped with state of the art equipment.

The results?

  • A 60%-70% reduction in costs
  • More cameras in the field
  • More Edit rooms in play
  • Faster turnarounds
  • "Freedom to fail" and to take risks
  • Personal Authorship
  • Better product on the air
